What I didn't plan on was the traffic. A 20 min drive took us over an hour. It was frustrating and I wanted to turn around and go home several times. We didn't get to the museum until nearly 6:30pm. But, in the end, I'm so glad we went. Yes, the traffic was terrible. Yes, we were out past Abby's bedtime. Yes, the parking garage was too expensive. But, when we left, Abby spontaneously said "That was really really fun! Thank you!" And that made it all worth it.
She really had a blast. It's only her second time to the museum. But she was still breaking in her land legs last time. This time, she was a constant blur. Pictures were difficult. But, here are a few regardless.
playing shapes with daddy
she was using the giant checkers as stepping stones
Abby *loved* the construction zone area
... especially.the tunnels
we played the steel drums
(I actually had a lot of fun with this one, too)
But this was her favorite by FAR. The airplane. And, can I tell you? Kyle could not have been more proud. We spent most of our time in the airplane. Abby, just like her daddy, preferred the big cushioned seats and a meal. She brought in plates of food from a nearby kitchen play area. She took turns between serving food like a flight attendant, and just "eating" it with daddy (mostly chicken and chocolate cake). Our little first class toddler. Sigh.
getting ready to go serve daddy cake and watermelon on the airplane.
There was a TV room where Abby got to see herself on screen. She was kinda impressed with that.
(the shoe didn't hurt her ;)
The last room we visited was the "race room" where you get to roll golf balls down tracks of varying heights, lengths, etc. Abby really really loved this room. We had fun too.
She was sad to leave at the end of it all, but SUCH a good sport. And, like I said earlier, I'm really glad we went - even if it was a bit of a headache for a while. It was refreshing to be out of the house and nothing beats seeing Abby having such a nice time.
