catch up

So there are several things I've been meaning to mention on here - for prosperity's sake.

First up - going back to work.
We got a good laugh when my first day back to work was snowed out so my first day back was just under a week ago now.  I didn't really know what to expect.  I didn't know if my caseload would be insane or if I'd be a crying mess or what.  I met with my boss and then I met with the guy who had been covering for me while I was gone.  Turns out that almost all the kids for March were already tested (this is very different from my March last year where I had nearly triple the recommended caseload).  Needless to say, I was thrilled to find out that my first meeting is scheduled for mid April!  Whatever will I do with my time, you may ask?  Well, I had 2 counseling kids when I left on maternity leave and now I have eight.  That's a lot for our job and the time restraints that it entails.  But, no use crying over spilled milk - I'm figuring out a good schedule for these kids and am hoping to really do some good counseling work with them.

As far as missing Abigail goes - I did.  Some.  I mean, I was glad to see her when I got home and was a little sad if she was sleeping when I arrived.  But overall, I didn't worry about her or cry or feel distraught in any way.  Now, all last week Kyle was watching her, so we'll see if I feel any differently leaving her with our nanny.

Overall, going back to work was a much easier transition than I had thought it might be.  This is in NO way meant to belittle those that have a hard time with it -because I can TOTALLY see how it could be hard to do.  I just have a lot in place to make things easier for us (short work day, work close to home etc...)

Second, Kyle:
He is slated to graduate this May (yay!).  The next question of course is, "then what?"  Well, we've looked at a few options.  One of them was for Kyle to continue his education.  Kyle applied to a program at Boston University - it would be like an extra 30 hours added to his masters (in AR it's called a specialist, in MA it's called CAGS, or the Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies)  At any rate, the degree can stand alone or it can be applied toward your work on a PhD.  Last night Kyle found out that he was accepted to the program!

We still have a lot to talk about how things would work if he accepts and he still hasn't heard anything about financial aid, so there are a few things still up in the air.  If he accepts, we'll be in Boston for at least another year, maybe two.

That's weird for me to think about - but like I said, so much is still up in the air.

Third- this weekend:
We had a good weekend.  Abby has slept through the night 2 nights in a row now.  I'm still not ready to let my guard down, so I still "plan" on at least one waking each night.  We'll see how she does.

On Saturday, we went down - about to the Rhode Island boarder and did some small shopping for some things we needed. It was kinda fun to get out and shop around with Kyle.  Abby did great.  After shopping, we met our friends Jon and Stephanie for dinner at Red Robin (mmm)  Even at 4:30, there was an hour and a half wait.  Ugh.  But, it gave me plenty of time to take some pictures.

This is one of my faves - Baby Blue Eyes

After a nice dinner out, we went over to Jon & Steph's house for some pumkin pie.  Then we came home and we all crashed.

Today, Kyle and I met our friends again for a Celtics game.  We brought Abby with us.  The Celtics lost - but considering they were trailing by 20 or more points most of the game and we had 2 of our starters out injured, AND the team just got done with an emotional win against the Cavaliers - I think it's ok that we only lost by 6 or 7 points.  It was still fun.  Abby slept through 3.5 quarters.  I took her out at the end so she could enjoy the game.  It's amazing that she could sleep through so much of the game (although some may argue that our defense was doing the same thing...)

Mmmm - hands.

Abs was more interested in watching the game than taking pictures.

So, tonight I'm trying to get everything in order so that Nadira's first day as our nanny can go as smoothly as possible.  I hope it does.  I hope I don't worry too much.

I'll try to blog a little more regularly this week.  There is no longer a wifi signal in my office - so I lose a lot of computer time in the day (although I'm probably a bit more productive at work now too)  Either way - hope everyone has a great week.

that picture is so good, so precious. She is such a doll. I'm so proud of you - I'm that "one" that it's harder on...and yeah, I could NEVER handle a nanny. You're my role model :)

That's awesome Kyle news!

Great post, all full of stuff.

These pics are great. The bottom one, I agree, is the most Kylish one yet.

She looks bigger, too.

You could always apply to Springdale. We are hiring for next school year. www.sdale.org

:)

It would probably be a big change from the north but an option to add to your list if you are interested!!
